World’s tallest dog loses leg to bone cancer

He is certified as the world’s tallest dog — at 42. 2 inches — by the Guinness Book of World Records. Gibson was recuperating this week at his home in Grass Valley a Gold Rush-era town about 60 miles east of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills. His owner Sandy Hall says well-wishers from around the world have been calling to see how he’s doing. She says Gibson will undergo chemotherapy. A certified therapy dog Gibson will soon return to work — visiting cancer patients sick children burn victims amputees and veterans. ___Information from: The Union.
Unhurried Sixers GM Stefanski meets with Eddie Jordan

Jordan and Stefanski worked together with the New Jersey Nets Jordan as an assistant coach and Stefanski as an assistant GM. During that time New Jersey made two trips to the NBA Finals. Before his gig as an assistant with the Nets Jordan was the head coach in Sacramento during the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons. From 2003-08 Jordan coached the Washington Wizards: He was fired a little more than six months ago after the team started the season 1-10. Jordan’s career coaching record is 230-288. Today’s interview will be Jordan’s second this week. n Tuesday in Las Vegas Jordan met with the Sacramento Kings about their coaching vacancy.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s proposal to sell the historic stadium to raise cash amid the state’s growing fiscal crisis. “Whoever made the decision to throw this on the table five days before an election made a boneheaded decision” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky president of the Coliseum Commission. “People are not as foolish as some politicians think they are. Yaroslavsky argued the Coliseum is both priceless and of exaggerated worth — priceless as a national historic landmark yet wildly overvalued by some politicians.
