JC Penney to close Sacramento-area call center

Penney says it will close its call center in the Sacramento suburb of Carmichael eliminating 260 jobs. The center has handled catalog sales and telemarketing operations for much of the West for more than 20 years. Penney says phone business has decreased steadily over the past decade as more people shop online.

The company based in Charlotte N. will continue to serve West Coast customers from its facilities in Salt Lake City and Phoenix. GreenFiber has operated the Sacramento plant at 5854 88th St.

Defense must improve or problems await Dallas Mavericks
